Scope

In principle, structure governs the nature of properties. In search of novel structures with better properties, it relies on the function-oriented materials design based on the first-principles calculations, instead of the discovery in nature. Owing to the more-powerful computational power, scientists can engineer and design the functional materials including new phases or structures, exotic electronic and optical properties, phase transitions under extreme conditions. The aim of this mini-symposium is to share new ideas and foster interdisciplinary collaborations. The symposium will specifically focus on recent methodological developments and applications in the field of computational materials discovery and design. Following topics will be covered (but will not be limited to)

●  Structural Design of Novel Functional Materials 
●  Novel Properties Introduced by Surface Engineering or Disorder Engineering
●  Nanostructured and Layered Semiconductors
●  Application of Artificial Intelligence in Material Discovery/Design
