Scope

Low-dimensional materials and, in particular, 2D crystals, present new challenges for theoretical and computational approaches they can be handled with, as compared with the more traditional 3D crystals. The lack of the periodicity in one (or more) direction leads to principle complications.

This mini-symposium will be devoted to the methods of the overcoming this difficulty with the use of the super-cell as well as 'native' approaches. The recent breakthroughs in the (time-dependent) density-functional theory, as well other many-body techniques, with the focus on the low-dimensional systems will constitute the main subject of the symposium.
